Dublin Thunder National Cup Winners
Greg Campion shows he can jump and shoot above the best of them.
The first in a hat trick of wins last Sunday was the U12 boys met Eanna. It was a nice win to get as it was Eanna who knocked them out of the Cup competition. KUBS U12 Boys 28 - Eanna 21.
Following straight on from this game the U17 Boys were hosting Swords. The Swords lads are a tall team with experienced players but they couldn't get their basket attempts to complete. The KUBS boys were in really top form that removed any size difference advantage. KUBS U17 Boys - 59 - Swords - 23
Last game of the day went to our U15 Boys who had Tolka in Greendale. A very one sided affair it turned out to be, as the Tolka lads were mostly their U14 boys. That didn't stop them from fighting their corner right to the end which is why they are mostly undefeated at their U14 level. Well done to all the lads.
DCU Mercy in thrilling win of U20 Womens National Cup
The U20 ladies of DCU Mercy put on a very impressive performance last Saturday and managed to clinch it by just one basket in a very exciting and close game. This type of finish is always brilliant for the spectators as the tension builds right to the end. Well done to all involved including one of our own, Alice Chubb. Some of KUBS players will know some of the other players like Kate Black and her sister Peggy who got MVP, from some of the summer camps. Well done girls.
Hat Trick Sunday for KUBS Boys
Basketball Ireland Coaching is proud to present a Nutrition & Coaching Clinic in conjunction with the National Dairy Council (NDC) and the Dublin Men’s Basketball Board (DMBB). There are two parts to this clinic - a qualified nutritionist will explain the importance of nutrition for Basketball players; and a presentation will be given by a leading Basketball Coach.
The Nutrition part of the clinic is from 11:00 – 12:30 and the Coaching element of the day will be from 13:00 – 16:00. This section will focus on the Fundamental and Learning to Train Phases of Long Term Athlete Development. The basketball side of the clinic will be of most interest to coaches working with younger players and will be given by two experienced coaches who have coached Irish Teams in European Competition, one of which will be Paul Kelleher.

KUBS Boys in Schools Competition.
Some of the older KUBS lads where in action last Sunday in the All Ireland Schools Competition qualifying rounds held in Manor House School Gym. The last game of the day turned out to be a very good spirited affair with plenty of good humoured banter between Fintans and the Donegal lads. At one stage even the Donegal guys were calling for and assisting in a dunk from St Fintans. Fintans went on to win this game quite convincingly, which sees them go through to the quarter final stage.
Last Sunday evening also saw Eanna visiting Greendale to meet our U15 boys team. The game started with a flurry but the KUBS lads dropped back badly in the second quarter. This proved to be a significant loss of ground that couldn't be made up in time before the final whistle. A very hard push from everyone in the last quarter left it just one basket away from extra time. But one last buzzer beater attempt at a 3 point shot from Kevin Hughes failed to reach its target and so Eanna clinched it, but only just.
U15 Boys caught short
on time.
